A bit about us


We are Sam and Enrico and we make proper ice cream.

We met while working at the Michelin-starred Locanda Locatelli. Chatting about our shared love of ice cream one day, we agreed the quality of gelato here in London could be better, so we decided to do something about it.  

We toured Sicily, Calabria and Basilicata, learning how to make gelato from the masters of the craft. Hackney Gelato was born on our return.

That was four years ago. We now make gelato and sorbet for some of London’s best restaurants, gelaterias and shops. Everything is made in small batches in our Hackney kitchen the way it should be made - by hand, with love, using classic Italian techniques.
